Edinburgh wave engineer wins sustained achievement award

Stephen Salter, an engineer at the University of Edinburgh, has won a ‘sustained achievement’ award from the Royal Academy of Engineering.

His achievements include work on the desalination of sea water and innovative ways to mitigating the impact of climate change. However, his most well-known invention is the ‘Salter’s Duck’, which was developed in the 1970s to generate electrical power from waves.
