Winning research professors named

The British Academy and the Wolfson Foundation have announced that four scholars from the universities of Cambridge and Manchester have won this year's research professor awards.

Wolfson Research Professorships come with an award of £150,000 over three years. They allow winning researchers to concentrate on a particular research programme without teaching and administrative responsibilities.

Nicolas Cook will study relational musicology. Sheilagh Ogilvie will explore human capital and economic outcomes in a European developing economy (1600–1900).  Peter Wade’s project is on race and genomics and Alan Williams will study the Persian poet Rumi’s Masnavi
