Only a fifth of some 130 GPs taking part in a survey thought it was “very important” to be personally involved in NHS research.
The survey, which was commissioned by the Association of Medical Research Charities, questioned 392 GPs, hospital doctors and nurses.
The results show that while 91 per cent of the respondents thought it is important for the NHS to support research into treatments for patients, only 46 per cent thought it is “very important” for them to be personally involved.
