Royal Society to investigate the case for diversity in science

The Royal Society is looking for research proposals on the "business case for diversity" among the scientific workforce.

The society is looking for evidence on whether more diverse teams—particularly in terms of gender, ethnicity, disability and socio-economic status—are more likely to do good science.

"Findings from this research will determine the optimum measures of diversity and outputs to be used as part of a small pilot study to establish in the first instance whether there is a statistically meaningful correlation between some measures of diversity and some measures of the quality or quantity of outputs produced by groups on scientists," says the society in a statement.
