Society of Biology to license chartered science teachers

The Science Council has granted the Society of Biology a five-year licence to award and register chartered primary, secondary and tertiary-level science teachers.

“The addition [of chartered science teachers] will further support the professional recognition of our members working in teaching and learning roles at all levels. The teaching community is vital to ensuring the next generation of biologists and supporting this community is a priority for the society,” the society said in a statement released on 7 January.

The Society of Biology is the second UK organisation to be granted a chartered licence within a month. The Science Council gave the Institute of Water a licence to register chartered scientists in December 2013.
