Top diplomat elected president of Learned Society of Wales

The UK’s former ambassador to the United Nations will succeed John Cadogan as the president of the Learned Society of Wales.

Emyr Jones Parry represented the UK on the UN Security Council from 2003 to 2007 and has negotiated more than 250 Security Council resolutions.

Before embarking on a 34-year career with the Foreign Office, Parry gained a PhD in polymer physics at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge.
