Learned societies aim to shed light on Scottish debate

The Royal Society of Edinburgh and the British Academy have published a book of contributions from academics on Scottish independence.

The book, Enlightening the Constitutional Debate, examines topics for debate for a post-independence Scotland such as currency options, the distribution of the national debt, pensions security and Scotland’s place in the European Union.

The two societies are calling for the public to be made more aware of the detail of these issues and have better access to expert opinion.
