The winners of Swansea University's Research as Art competition will have their work displayed in an exhibition at the Royal Institution in London from 25 January until 19 February.
Seventeen winning images from the competition were chosen by a judging panel made up of senior figures from NewScientist.com, the Science and Technology Facilities Council, and Swansea’s Art Across the City project, and the Royal Institution’s professor of science, culture and society Gail Cardew.
The overall winner of the competition was Sparky Booker, a researcher at the university’s College of Arts and Humanities, who illustrated the challenges of her research on women and justice during the Middle Ages by photographing a “paper chain of women” rising up from the pages of an old book.
