Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, the world’s oldest continuously published journal, has celebrated its 350th anniversary with two special issues re-examining landmark papers from the past.
The two special issues include reflections on an Alan Turing paper on patterns in nature, Anthony von Leeuwenhoek’s early observations of bacteria, Isaac Newton’s theories of colour and Michael Faraday’s experiments on electricity.
The special issue of Philosophical Transactions A covers papers in the physical, mathematical and engineering sciences, and the special issue of Philosophical Transactions B covers the life sciences. The issues were published on 6 March and all of the papers are freely available.
