Science centre plans underground lair

The Cambridge Science Centre has announced that it is drawing up plans to create a 10-floor underground space in the heart of Cambridge.

The science centre said it needed to move to the heart of the city in order to better engage academia and industry, attract tourists and support the local economy, in a press release issued on 1 April.

However, with space in the city centre difficult to find, the centre is planning to create an underground space beneath the listed Guildhall building. At present, the centre is housed in a shop in the city centre through an arrangement with Jesus College.
