The Royal Society of Chemistry has announced that 16 per cent of its award and prize winners for 2015 were women, up from 11 per cent in 2014.
The society, which says it is committed to supporting and improving diversity and inclusion in the chemical sciences, has also published statistics showing that 12 per cent of those nominated for an award or prize in 2015 were women, while 11 per cent of those who nominated someone were women.
Fifty-six honours were awarded by the society on 5 May, of which nine went to women.
