Former Newsnight editor to head up Nuffield Foundation

Tim Gardam, principal of St Anne’s College at the University of Oxford, has been named as the next chief executive of the Nuffield Foundation.

The foundation, which spends about £4 million a year on research, announced Gardam’s appointment on 6 January.

He will take up the role on 1 September, replacing Josh Hillman, who has been acting director since the surprise resignation of Sharon Witherspoon in June 2015.
