An alliance of UK biomedical research funding organisations has produced an update on its efforts to improve the reproducibility of studies, following its report on the subject last year.
The group consists of the Academy of Medical Sciences, the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, the Medical Research Council and the Wellcome Trust. In October 2015, they jointly published Reproducibility and Reliability of Biomedical Research: Improving research practice, which called for a collective effort to fix reproducibility problems.
The report called for a culture shift away from valuing publication in high-impact journals to rewarding the quality of biomedical research studies and engendering a culture of openness and transparency.
