The UK’s Academy of Medical Sciences has called for an audit of the evidence base on the health problems facing refugees, in order to identify future research priorities.
A report published by the academy on 25 November, summarises the results of a round-table meeting in June. That meeting was held to improve the understanding of the health challenges that forced migrant populations face, and to explore the research priorities required to meet migrants’ health needs.
Recent changes in forced migration patterns have created “renewed urgency and focus around health research questions”, the report said.
