Broadbent becomes deputy leader of social science academy

Jane Broadbent, emerita professor of accounting at Royal Holloway, University of London, has started work as the deputy chairwoman of council at the Academy of Social Sciences.

Broadbent, a former deputy vice-chancellor and provost at Roehampton University in south-west London, began her two-year appointment on 25 May, the academy announced on 30 May.

She is a strong advocate of the social sciences and is keen to ensure that more academic research is used to resolve problems in policy, according to the academy. Her previous areas of research include investigating the impact of performance management and accounting-led changes on public services.
