Conservative peer and former science and universities minister David Willetts has been appointed chairman of the Foundation for Science and Technology.
Created as a high-level forum to discuss science and technology policy developments and increase parliamentarians’ awareness of the field, the FST had been under the stewardship of Conservative peer John Palmer (Lord Selborne) until he was succeeded by Willetts in December.
“I was very honoured to be asked to take over from Lord Selborne, as the foundation is one of the places where you have the best-informed discussions of issues facing the science and technology community,” Willetts told Research Fortnight on 7 January.
