Cancer Research UK behind investment including new research groups and additional PhD students

Cancer Research UK has announced its largest ever investment in radiotherapy research: it hopes the £56 million of funding will accelerate the development of advanced cancer treatments.

The money, to be distributed to seven centres of excellence over five years, will be invested in improving cancer survival by optimising and personalising the treatment, which uses radiation such as X-rays to damage and kill cancer cells. Some £13 million will be allocated to forming new research groups and funding additional PhD students.
