Wellcome pauses its public engagement fellowships

Funder says scheme has struggled to attract diverse applicants

The Wellcome Trust will not fund any new public engagement fellowships in 2019, as the charity continues to reassess how it approaches work in this area.

Over the past nine years the trust has supported 26 engagement fellows, who are each supported with salaries and up to £30,000 in project costs to innovate in public engagement with research.
