Nuffield Foundation expands priorities for 2019

The social wellbeing research funder Nuffield Foundation has expanded its priorities in its core domains of education, welfare and justice as its annual budget grows.

The most significant change is in the foundation’s research, development and analysis grants in education, as Nuffield would like to fund projects that fall within four new themes: skills and capabilities; teaching quality, particularly projects looking at the use of digital technologies to enhance learning; young people’s educational pathways, especially outside higher education; and educational disadvantage, including special educational needs and physical disabilities.

The updated guidance was published on 28 May, ahead of the September deadline for the scheme, which offers grants of up to £500,000, although most of them are worth between £50,000 and £300,000.
