The Academy of Medical Sciences is seeking regional champions to strengthen its connection with researchers in the south-east and north-east of England.
The champions will be tasked with increasing awareness of the academy’s work among biomedical researchers, encouraging nominations for fellows from their regions and helping early-career scientists to understand the academy’s funding programmes.
Those interested in becoming regional champions must be fellows of the academy and apply by 1 October, the organisation said. The successful candidates will take over in early December from Christine Harrison, champion for the north-east and a cancer researcher at Newcastle University; and Stephen Holgate, champion for the south-east and an immunopharmacologist at the University of Southampton.
