Crick launches research project with global drug firm

Researchers at the Francis Crick Institute have started a joint research project with scientists from the biopharmaceutical company MSD who are co-working at the Crick’s London site.

Researchers from the two organisations are now carrying out joint research on motor neurone disease to try to understand the biology of the condition and identify targets for future treatments.

In December, the Crick said that MSD researchers would be hosted at its London lab, and this began earlier this year. Now, in an announcement on 20 August, the Crick says its own researchers are pursuing the first joint project with their commercial colleagues. The work is being co-funded by MSD and the Medical Research Council, one of the Crick’s financial backers.
