The British Council has appointed Stevie Spring, from the mental health charity Mind, as its new chair.

Spring, who has extensive experience with charities, will succeed Christopher Rodrigues, who served as chair between 2016 and May 2019, the organisation said on 14 August.

The British Council, which receives funding from the UK government, works with countries across the globe to encourage scientific and educational cooperation with the UK. It is set to play an even more important role in research relations as the UK seeks to increase international collaborations after Brexit.
