R&D sector backs Wellcome’s call to reform research culture

Sector leaders react to charity’s survey revealing high levels of job stress and insecurity

The R&D sector has backed the Wellcome Trust’s call to reform research culture, after a “shocking” survey laid bare the high levels of stress and insecurity experienced by researchers in the UK.

According to a survey conducted for the trust and published on 15 January, less than a third of researchers feel secure pursuing a research career, with four out of five agreeing that high levels of competition have created unkind and aggressive research conditions.
