Meanwhile, Academy of Social Sciences begins search for new president

The chief executive of the Royal Society of Chemistry is stepping down to become an ambassador for the organisation.

Robert Parker, who has been at the helm of the learned society since 2011, announced he was temporarily standing down as chief executive at the end of 2019 to recuperate from two hip replacements, with a plan on returning at the end of 2020.
