Chemical societies vow to eradicate discrimination in sector

Academies say ‘some in our community still hold outdated, offensive and discriminatory attitudes’

An international group of chemistry organisations has issued a joint statement against discrimination and inequality in the chemical sciences.

In the statement, chemical societies including the Royal Society of Chemistry say that sexism, racism and discrimination against LGBTQ+ people “are sadly all too prevalent in the chemical sciences, both at individual and institutional levels”.
