African inventors selected for final round of engineering prize

Off-grid power project and facial recognition tech among finalists in Royal Academy of Engineering competition

The Royal Academy of Engineering has selected projects on food waste, facial recognition, cancer screening and off-grid power as finalists for its annual Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation.

The finalists were selected from a shortlist of 15 innovators, who received eight months of training and support as part of the competition, which helps those who have developed solutions for local challenges to commercialise their innovations.
