UK ‘won’t have enough technicians’ to deliver R&D boost

   

Royal Society says the nation ‘will not have the workforce in place without additional action’

The government must scale up the UK’s technical workforce if it is to realise its “science superpower” ambitions, the Royal Society has said.

The society’s 15 February policy briefing found that at current trends there will not be enough technical staff to deliver the government’s promised boost in public funding for R&D to £22 billion per year by 2024-25.
