Role changes and redundancies as funder implements new strategy, saying it expects headcount to grow
Large numbers of staff at the Wellcome Trust are changing roles with some choosing redundancy in a major restructuring of the UK-based biomedical research funder.
The changes come as a result of the charity’s new strategy, published in late 2020, which introduced programmes on three major themes—infectious diseases, mental health and the health impacts of climate change—while simplifying its funding schemes.
