Engineers to help mop up army fall-out

The Institution of Engineering and Technology has launched plans to help army personnel being made redundant to retrain as engineers and information technology professionals.

Hundreds of members of the armed forces were issued with redundancy notices on 1 September as a result of cuts announced in the government’s Strategic Defence Review. Some 17,000 roles will be cut between now and 2015.
