Database of 15m compounds made freely available

SureChem, which runs a website containing 15 million chemical compounds mined from patent documents, has announced that it will make the collection available to researchers at no cost.

The database will be available through the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI), Europe’s flagship laboratory for the life sciences.

The development was made possible through a donation by Digital Science, a technology company owned by Macmillan, which also owns the Nature Publishing Group.
