Collaborations in cell therapy research win £6.3m

The Cell Therapy Catapult is entering into four commercial partnerships to further the development of regenerative therapies, as part of an Innovate UK collaborative R&D programme.

The catapult has announced that it will work with: Plasticell and the University of Oxford on a system to reproduce blood stem cells; with TAP Biosystems on a single-use reactor vessel; with Azellon, the University of Liverpool and NHS Blood and Transplant on a cell bandage; and with Athersys on a cell therapy for acute respiratory distress syndrome.

The collaborative projects are worth a combined £6.3 million and were the winning entries in a competition aimed at addressing challenges related to the preparation of regenerative therapies held by Innovate UK, formerly the Technology Strategy Board.
