The chairman of Innovate UK's Catapult Committee Ian Schott has been awarded the Royal Academy of Engineering President’s Medal in recognition to his contributions to the work of the academy.

Schott was awarded the medal partly to recognise his efforts to create the academy’s Enterprise Hub in 2013, which provides mentoring, funding and support to innovators, the RAEng said in a statement issued on 12 May.

Schott was responsible for overseeing the launch of the hub, which has helped start-ups to raise more than £36 million in follow-on funding, as founding chairman of the academy’s enterprise committee.
