Welsh government awake to mattress-testing potential

A manufacturer of specialist mattresses designed to reduce the incidence of pressure ulcers—or bedsores—in hospital patients is to establish a testing facility in Wales to ensure products meet stricter international standards.

The Welsh government has promised to provide £50,000 to support the investment at Direct Healthcare Services’ Caerphilly facility.

The project will create 10 jobs and safeguard a further 56, the government said in a press release on 26 May.
