Didier Queloz says it is difficult to find funding for cross-disciplinary research

A University of Cambridge astrophysicist jointly awarded the Nobel prize in physics on 8 October has called for better funding mechanisms for cross-disciplinary research.

Didier Queloz, a professor at the Cavendish Laboratory, was awarded the prestigious prize along with his colleague Michel Mayor for the first discovery of a planet outside the solar system—an exoplanet orbiting a solar-type star.
