Nation’s businesses a rare bright spot as Europe lags behind China and US
UK companies significantly increased their R&D spending over the past year, with a growth rate outstripping both EU rivals and the world average.
According to the latest EU data on the 2,500 companies investing the largest sums in R&D worldwide, the 127 businesses based in the UK increased their spending by 12.7 per cent between 2017 and 2018 to reach €29 billion (£25bn).
