Public R&D spending on the creative industries generates economic returns and has a positive impact on health and wellbeing, according to a report.
Arts Council England and the Creative Industries Federation said in a report published on 29 May that public spending into cross-industry collaborations including arts and culture could reduce costs faced by the NHS and enhance the effectiveness of services.
Commenting in the report, the president of the Royal Society Venki Ramakrishnan said the delimitations between sectors were becoming increasingly blurred, with technology driving progress in many areas and careers becoming more flexible and varied.
