European Space Agency rubber stamps mission for surveying planets outside our solar system
The European Space Agency has given the green light to begin work on Ariel—a space telescope that will survey planets orbiting other stars.
Esa’s science programme committee, made up of member state ministers, academics and civil servants, gave its approval to start finding contractors to build the telescope (pictured, artist’s impression) at a meeting on 12 November.
