UK’s ratification final piece of puzzle for convention to establish Square Kilometre Array Observatory
The UK has become the latest country to ratify the convention underpinning the Square Kilometre Array Observatory, the last ratification necessary for the international radio astronomy project to finally be recognised as an intergovernmental organisation.
News of the ratification on 16 December comes after the observatory received backing from its two fellow host countries, Australia and South Africa, as well as founding members Portugal, the Netherlands and Italy.
