Nancy Rothwell urges rethink on Research Excellence Framework, with focus on policy and delivery

The UK is unlikely to get full membership of the European Union’s next framework programme, Horizon Europe, the co-chair of the prime minister’s Council for Science and Technology has warned in a speech on research after the Covid-19 crisis.

Nancy Rothwell, who is also the president and vice-chancellor of the University of Manchester and future chair of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities, was speaking at the virtual festival of higher education, organised by the University of Buckingham, on 8 July.
