Government announces $500 million investment, as hopes fade for custom-made UK Galileo replacement
The UK government has won a controversial bid for a satellite company, OneWeb, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy announced on 3 July.
The $500 (£400) million deal, which is subject to US court approval and regulatory clearances, will enable the company to complete construction of a global satellite constellation for provision of enhanced broadband and other services to countries around the world, BEIS said.
