Almost a third of paused NIHR studies are still on hold

Health funder says it is ‘actively collaborating’ to ensure non-Covid research can quickly regain momentum

Around one third of clinical trials that were paused as a result of Covid-19 remain on hold, according to the latest data from the National Institute for Health Research.

As of 20 January, the health research funder said 31 per cent of both commercial and non-commercial studies that were paused during the pandemic have not yet restarted. While 40 per cent of previously paused studies have not yet recruited participants.
