Open data release includes genomes of more than 7,000 parasites from 28 countries

A UK-based international network on malaria research, MalariaGEN, has released what it says is the largest open database on malaria parasite evolution and drug resistance—with an aim of making information on the deadly disease more widely available.

The information includes genome variation data on more than 7,000 malaria parasites from 28 endemic countries, and is published on the Wellcome Open Research platform on 24 February.
