UK government sets out plan for ‘world-leading’ innovation

Innovation Strategy draws on successes of UK pandemic response with seven R&D priority areas

The UK government has vowed to put the UK at the front of the global innovation race in its long-term plan to boost private R&D investment in the wake of the pandemic.

Launched by business secretary Kwasi Kwarteng on 22 July, the new Innovation Strategy promises to build on lessons learned during the pandemic to “build back better” and “cement the UK’s position as a world-leader in science, research and innovation”.
