UK Atomic Energy Authority outlines five priority areas in developing materials for fusion power plants
A government research organisation has published a roadmap setting out how the UK plans to develop the materials needed to exploit the promise of elusive nuclear fusion energy, something the UK government hopes will become a reality in the coming decades.
The plan follows a government commitment of £220 million to the conceptual design of a fusion power station, as well as backing from prime minister Boris Johnson, who has been vocal about his enthusiasm for fusion energy.
