UK science needs new type of ‘focused research organisation’

Tony Blair Institute and partners say UK government should fund such bodies to unlock progress

UK government should support a new way of doing research to capitalise on expertise that would otherwise fall between the cracks of existing funding models, according to a new report.

Existing R&D funding models are “ill-suited” to managing certain types of worthy research projects, says the report published on 4 August by non-profit Convergent Research, and think tanks the Entrepreneurs Network and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.
