UK quantum strategy promises £2.5bn for R&D programme

Budget 2023: Government also pledges to more than double quantum-focused Centres for Doctoral Training

The UK government has published its quantum strategy, in which it pledges to invest £2.5 billion in quantum R&D over 10 years.

The strategy, published alongside the spring budget on 15 March, also promises to “more than double” the number of Centres for Doctoral Training focused on quantum technologies, saying this “will contribute to training over 1,000 PhD students in quantum or a directly supporting field over the next 10 years”.
