Jim Skea elected to replace Hoesung Lee as head of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
Imperial College London professor Jim Skea has been elected chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a UN body tasked with assessing climate science.
Skea, a professor of sustainable energy with 40 years of climate science experience, previously served as co-chair of the IPCC’s Working Group III, which assesses the mitigation of climate change. He replaces South Korean economist Hoesung Lee, who has chaired the panel since 2015.
