HMRC tells care homes not to file ineligible R&D tax relief claims

Care homes told they could face penalties following spike in “incorrect” tax claims

UK care homes have been warned against applying for R&D tax credits following claims for “sensory gardens” and meal plans, Research Professional News has learned.

In a letter sent to nursing and care home directors, HMRC said that the sector is being targeted by agents who encourage them to make “ineligible” claims for R&D tax relief.
