White Rose universities launch open-access platform

The universities of York, Sheffield and Leeds have set up a not-for-profit, gold open-access digital university press.

The White Rose University Press was launched on 4 January and will publish peer-reviewed academic journals and books.

In an announcement, the press outlined three priorities: supporting open access by freely publishing articles and books under Creative Commons licenses; ensuring academic quality with an editorial board drawn from all three universities; and creating new opportunities by experimenting with publishing formats, including short-form monographs, interactive ebooks and data journals.
