UK researchers to get easier access to publishing in PLOS

Flat-fee agreement allows publishing in Public Library of Science journals without article-processing charges

Many UK researchers will be able to publish in Public Library of Science journals without incurring article-processing charges under an agreement that kicks in on 1 January.

PLOS, a not-for-profit open-access publisher based in the United States, has agreed a three-year flat-fee agreement with the UK higher education IT firm Jisc, under which the partners will also collaborate on future data and metrics, as well as tools for institutions to evaluate open-access publishing agreements.
